éirígí Newry Urge Residents to be Alert

After a spate of thefts and burglaries over the course of the past few months, éirígí's Stephen Murney has called for local residents to be vigilant as Christmas approaches.

The local spokesperson for the revolutionary republican party said "we would urge everyone to ensure they have their valuables and belongings safe and secured.

"As we have seen over the past number of months there has been an upsurge in thefts and burglaries in various areas throughout Newry."

Stephen continued "In recent months éirígí have assisted residents who contacted the party after they were targeted by thieves and offered them assistance and support.

"Unfortunately there are anti-community elements in this society who would prey on ordinary people, in particular the elderly and vulnerable."

Concluding Murney added "With Christmas fast approaching it is important that residents remain vigilant. By being alert and taking simple precautions people can deter those sinister individuals intent on such unwanted activity."
